More Color Inspiration and a Birthday!

By LaurenMarie

It’s been a while since we’ve had some good color inspiration around here.

Take a look…

Longe Foods

Longe Foods Packaging

Although each bag only contains two main colors, the branding as a whole sticks with colors that are the roughly same value (see what the color samples look like in greyscale!).

Frog Eye

Frogeye logo

Interesting implementation of complimentary colors red and green, but not Christmasy. Why? Because the red is almost magenta and the green is more towards the yellow and has had quite a lot of white added, so it’s lighter.

Kolachy

Chicken Club Logo

This is a great example of a monochromatic (single color) scheme. Icon design from Von Glitschka.

Flow Yoga

Flow Yoga Palette

This color palette feels fresh and contemporary, yet kinda retro. It’s definitely fitting for a yoga company and it’s good to see the art director’s vision carried through to the photography colors, too.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Seeing as today is my birthday (Happy Birthday, Me!) I thought I’d sharesome birthday cake wrecks with you. I think Cake Wrecks is the next LOLcat.

Pirate cake disaster

Mayhaps this is why the rum is always gone, eh, maties?” So maybe this doesn’t look so bad at first glance, but head over to Cake Wrecks to read the commentary (and the comments, which are just as funny!).

Wee your 3 cake

Erm… why?

Yummy cake

Ok, so this isn’t a wreck, it’s just plain awesome! I’ve never seen anything like it before.

Enjoy your Friday!

    Happy Birthday Lauren!

I too love colour combinations. When I was choosing my blog setup pallet a few weeks ago, I used the Adobe “Kuler” website (at kuler.adobe.com ), which is a fantastic resource may I add. I would recommend it to anyone interested in colour combinations and pallets.

Who’s the bloke with the hairy chest…The Hoff or Burt Reynolds? ;)

    Happy Birthday Lauren :)

The flow yogo is interesting and I liked the “letterpress like” ornament in the background

My faltering net connection had me miss your birthday, but I hope it was a great one! Fingers crossed that today has brought the end of my new home internet provider woes.

Keep me a slice of Tom Selleck’s hairy chest. Or are those maggots? Urghhh :(

    Andrew,
Yeah, I’ve seen Kuler before. I’ve heard that it can be integrated into your CS programs, too (or maybe that’s an upcoming feature?).

    John,
It may have been belated in Japan but not here! I think I like almost all of Von’s work (referring to the chicken), except maybe the worm things, though those are still visually captivating in their own colorful way.

    Alex,
Hehe, everyone is liking that cake! It’s an amazingly good rendering of him, but… on a cake… with pink flowers… yikes!! And if you think those are bad, check out some of the others.

    Esben,
I think that’s why I liked the yoga one, too :D That and the colors just really pop because they fit so well together.

    David,
Sorry to hear about your connection problems (erm… that sounds weird)! Yes, wonderful hairy chest on a birthday cake. :P Delicious!
