Mariah,
For the page numbers, use your Master Pages! Create a text box where you want the page numbers to be, then right click with the cursor in the text box and go to Insert Special Characters > Markers > Current Page Number (or you’ll notice that has a shortcut: Alt+Ctrl+Shift+N).

Thank you! I got it to work.
1. I created EPS images of the buttons.
2. I used the “T” (text) tool to click in the text where I wanted to insert the button image.
3. I placed the image
4. I moved the image up and down if necessary using the arrow tools
5. I right clicked on the image while it was selected, clicked on Anchored Object> Options > and checked the box that says “Prevent manual positioning”.
Voila! Thanks!

Now… does anyone know how to insert printable page numbers in a booklet? I just had to work around and insert them all manually.

I would use the Anchored Objects I talked about in this article. They will flow with your text if you set the options to do that (see above).

I am working on a technical product instruction booklet in InDesign and there are several references in the manual to buttons on the device. I would like to insert images of these buttons into the text vs. having to cross reference numbers or letters. Ideally, I would like to create a font symbol to include these buttons, or maybe you know another way to insert the images of the buttons into the text as though they are letters and move with the text when the text is edited or changed?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
