You can export a PDF from InDesign and bring it into Illustrator and still have some editing capabilities, but other than that, you'll be importing a flattened file. You can drag Illustrator files directly into Photoshop and as long as the file was originally saved with PDF information, it will open (flattened, no layers). When you open a PDF in Photoshop, it should give you options about how to crop it (artboard, trim area, etc.), along with what resolution to import it at and which color mode.

Tled,
As far as I know, there’s no way to export a file with the layers in tact (there may be a plugin out there that can do it).
