I’m so glad you are here! I invite you to visit the About page and learn more about Creative Curio and LaurenMarie (that’s me, the author). You can just call me Lauren.
I have been wanting to start this blog for at least a month and I wanted everything to be perfect before launch. I wanted to have my own theme designed, have a few articles already written, customize all the widgets and have all the best plugins. I didn’t want to make any mistakes. I wanted to learn everything there is to know about blogging and good copy writing before I proclaimed Creative Curio’s existence to the world. I wanted to make it a perfect experience for my new readers.
Well, that’s all nice, but it’s time to stop procrastinating! I’ve not entirely worked out the all the details of what CC will be and that’s where I would like your input. Let me tell you what I do know this blog will be.
This blog will be about graphic design. Writing timeless articles about graphic design that will still be relevant in 10 or 40 years is my goal. I want to teach what I know, as well as learn from my readers and provide a place for discussion.
You are the reader, you are the focus and the reason for this blog’s existence. I want to make this blog about you, your needs and what problems I can solve for you, right from the beginning.
Will you help me? Let’s talk!
- Is there anything you don’t understand about graphic design that I can explain?
- What would you like to learn about graphic design?
- What do you struggle with the most when creating your work?
- What comes easily to you when designing?
- What are you favorite kinds of articles? Lists? Tutorials?

Hey Lauren, its about time!
But seriously, it looking great and I am looking forward to reading all your future articles
Thanks Tara
You’re the first one ever to comment on this blog! Hehe, what an honor!
Welcome to the world of blogging! I hope you’ve scheduled a few months off work to get those pillar posts online.
Just kidding. Nice choice of theme. Uncluttered, easy to read and navigate.
Thanks, David. I’m working on my own theme, but I decided that I needed to just get going on the blog and get the theme up as I have time. This was a clean theme that worked (many of them I tried had technical problems!) so this will be the look for a bit. Thanks for stopping by!
Hurrrah for Lauren and Creative Curiou!
It looks great, adding it to my feed reader, don’t want to miss any of your timeless articles!
Glad that you took time to stop and smell the roses once you were done with the blog
Thanks, Vivien. I’m so glad to have you here!
Yay!! Glad to see that you are up and running. It’s wonderful to start a site with so many friends already. Cutline is a great choice until you get your theme running too.
Thanks for the warm welcome, Randa! I am so blessed to already have such a great group of bloggers to hang out with. Thanks for stopping by!
Lauren
Great to see you here. I anticipate great things.
Thanks for saying hi, Johno! I hope I can live up to your great expectations :)
Congratulations on your new site! I have tagged you and hope that you will participate. It is a good way to spread the word about your grand opening. :)
Hi Neena, thanks for visiting! Wow! Tagged for a meme after being only 3 days old (and a blogging tips one at that!).
Unfortunately, I think I’ll have to pass on it. Creative Curio is going to be focused on graphic design and unless a meme is related to it or can be adapted to fit in graphic design, I’ve decided not to participate. The exception would be personal memes like 8 Things About Me or Face Behind the Blog. I’ll write up those and attach a link to the about page and mention it in a post as a PS. So any of those you have in the future, feel free to tag away!
Thanks for your interest in my blog and hearing what I have to say! Good luck with the meme and thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you around here more often :)
Good to see you up and running Lauren. I’ve added you to my reader and looking forward to popping back here more.
Looking forward to reading Lauren, wish you all the success in the world with your new blog.
Yes! I have questions. I am still learning graphic design. One of the things of interest is design for three d objects…also how do you get that first “real” job, how do you build your credibility and market yourself.
Hi Alex! Welcome! I’m glad you found your way here.
You ask some big questions! This blog will be more focused on graphic design, what is good design, how to improve your design skills, etc. There probably won’t be too much in the way of the job market and business aspects (though that could change if more people start requesting articles along those lines). I would highly recommend checking out Graphic Design Blog for those questions. Tara has been a graphic designer for about 12 years and she has much experience in the industry.
We will be focusing for the next week or two on the elements of design. I hope you’ll come back and participate in the conversations!
Hi Lauren,
(Month late and a dollar short of course)
Welcome to the wacky world of WordPress blogging. Glad you’re here! There’s a always a bit of a learning curve when it comes to “doing it yourself” but WordPress is an excellent platform to use.
If you have any questions about the workings of WordPress, plugins, widgets or any sort of “how the heck do I do this?” type of questions, feel free to drop me a line. I had seasoned bloggers help me out when I first started and I believe in passing on the favor. I’m no code wizard but I do know how to get things accomplished.
May you blog well! :D
Wow, thanks for the warm welcome, Kirk! I don’t mind that it’s a little late; I still consider myself a newbie
And thank you very much for the kind offer to help. I will definitely send you an email if I have any troubles or questions!
